here’s some more noel. i’m trying to pin down what it is that i find so appealing about this guy. i think it’s the same thing i find appealing about charles bukowski and howard stern and, shit, charles barkley, even. it’s beyond just telling the truth, beyond just simple honesty, because i think a lot of people try really hard to be honest, at least as they understand it. but some of us out here/there seem to have a real interest in trying to sort out how honesty is received by others. in other words, there’s just telling the truth to be shocking or to be irreverent, and i see that as pretty easy. that’s the bare minimum. you’re supposed to be honest. but i am drawn to people who are fiercely honest, yet possess something else that drives them to try to expand on the contradictions and problems that arise from their honesty. maybe it’s all just in the humor … everyone i listed above touches my heart because they make me laugh. but lots of people give me a chuckle … hmm, i can’t pin it down. it’s a curiosity. good teachers have it, great artists, humorists, leaders. i think i’m in love with people who are misunderstood, know they’re understood, and spend their days trying to get people to understand where they’re coming from.
