time to move it on down the line …

today, less than 24 hours after taking complete residence in my new house, i found myself (lefty, too) locked out. forgot to transfer the little pink key ring with the new keys to my official set of keys. came home from the dog park and … no get. shit. realizing what i did, i walked around the back of the house and tried to jimmy my way in the back way. after about ten minutes, i thought, ‘oh shit! lefty!’ i left him on the front porch. i ran around the house in a panic only to find him dutifully standing at the front door waiting to get let in. good boy …

once i figured out how to do it, breaking into my house is ridiculously easy. too easy. probably need to tighten up the fortress a bit. check the water levels in the moat. feed the gators. buy new chain. razor wire.

the best thing about my new house is the screened in back porch. even in an approximate level of unpackedness, it is the best hang out room i have ever had (although the living room on guerrero street in s.f. saw some pretty excellent times). the record player sounds great out here, and i even hooked up a set of headphones that can be passed around if someone wants to really take a good listen to the bass line on ‘watching the wheels.’ it’s very 1974 … born again, y’all. born again.

i’m so tired from moving and cleaning and writing that i can’t really celebrate, but what i’m doing (listening, writing, reading, settling, enjoying) feels a little like celebrating. just stiller. nice.
