all in all it was a fun enough night, but there were some funny things this halloween …

i got the idea to be liam gallagher in response to an invitation to a dead celebrity party. rumor has it he’s gonna start a new band. one foot in the grave, for certain.

i think the costume was pretty alright. had on the ‘be here now’ era parka. even had me a tambourine. i also put on a bad accent and a worse attitude.

here’s what i discovered:

1. nobody knows who liam gallagher is in baton rouge.

2. they usually got british rock of some sort, and most – when pressed – guessed oasis. but one person out of about fifty actually knew who liam gallagher was.

3. however, almost everyone – when told who i was – already held some notion that equated ‘oasis’ with ‘two assholes.’

4. (and this was always a fascination of mine with the band – that americans don’t get the joke.)

5. again, liam’s a bit of a prick, d’you know what i mean?

6. several people got visibly angry with me over the course of the evening … for pretending to be a be a semi-dead british asshole.

7. most of these people self-identify as some sort of artist.

8. that’s fookin’ irony, d’you know what i mean?

10. i’m hanging a sign that says ‘new orleans is an hour away’ right above the front door, so when i go to leave the house … d’you know what i mean?
