dude, i thought you were all excited because you’d gotten a new camera. was said excitement laden in getting such a fantastic deal on a 1 megapixel cybershot with D batteries?

but i suppose it’s like good indie music (oxymoronic any?) the content here’s what’s appreciated. mostly in that i’m in my hometown which while a tradeoff in progressiveness, can have kindred folks like y’all to make it all seem like a gag while we enjoy the perks like good coffee and fried gator.

hey mel. still here with my parents. pondering going and laying on the train tracks. i hope your weekend is more lively than mine (although last night was fairly lively, i suppose). speaking of the oval office, i’ve read some great racist lines about the obama’s taking over the white house. that they’re going to turn the rose garden into a watermelon patch and will start bar-b-q-ing on the white house lawn. seriously, i read this shit in moreen dowd’s column in the nytimes. reminds me of when tiger woods won the master’s and lee travino commented that the winner’s dinner this year would probably be fried chicken and collard greens. and i ask, “what’s wrong with that?” i love fried chicken and collard greens.

That really is an amazing poem.

that’s hilarious that you two were the first to comment on mel’s poem. i was telling her how much i liked it yesterday, and i said, “i’ve got friends who are going to fucking love that poem.” it’s honest. talks about kohl’s, trying on pants, getting lost. if you looked at mel quickly, you would not immediately guess that a poem like that came out of her. pretty cool.

man normally i’m not a huge fan of poetry but that is the best poem i’ve read in a long time BY FAR. and i’m not just saying that because it’s about shit. it’s got that certain bukowski touch to it (being that IS, after all, about feces) but there’s also (and maybe i’ve just been brainwashed by the recent political climate in our country) an underlying sense of hope about it.

as far as the howard stuff goes, well…sometimes weird shit happens, i guess.

but i appreciate the recognition, white. if i get the show on howard 101 i’ll be sure to give a shout out to the white kid from mt. zion.
